After the cold snap in Austria, the early summer weather is set to return. According to the forecast by Geosphere Austria, up to 29 degrees are expected on Tuesday before a low-pressure system brings back heavier clouds, rain, and cooling.
The new week will, therefore, start with sunny weather. However, high cloud fields and Sahara dust, especially in the west, will spoil the impression a little on Monday. The wind will blow weakly to moderately in the eastern lowlands, and individual wind lines on the northern side of the Alps will also blow briskly from southeast to south. Early temperatures will be between two and eleven degrees, with daytime highs of 22 to 27 degrees.
The high-pressure weather will continue on Tuesday. It will remain very sunny, and thin clouds will occasionally pass in high layers. The geosphere forecast shows temperatures will reach early summer levels with a foehn-like southerly current.
The wind will blow moderately to briskly from southeast to south during the day in foreign valleys on the northern and eastern sides of the Alps and the north. 5 to 13 degrees are expected in the morning and 22 to 29 degrees during the day.
Sun and rain on Labor Day
On Wednesday, weak low pressure from the west between Vorarlberg and Upper Carinthia will cause dense clouds and some rain. The area south of the main Alpine ridge will be particularly affected on Wednesday. The rest of the country will remain sunny and warm in early summer. A solid southerly wind will continue to blow.
The thermometer will climb to between five and twelve degrees in the morning, with temperatures between 20 and 27 degrees during the day.
On Thursday, a weak low-pressure system centered over western Austria will bring widespread cloud cover, rain, showers, and brief thunderstorms. Areas in the west and south of the country will be particularly affected. East of the Innviertel and the Wechsel region, it will initially remain mostly precipitation-free and occasionally sunny.
Wind picks up
The wind will break down in the west, with persistent brisk to strong winds blowing from the southeast to east on the eastern edge of the Alps and in the north. Early temperatures will be between six and twelve degrees, with daytime highs of 18 to 25 degrees.
Friday will begin very cloudy and, in many cases, overcast. This is due to the influence of low pressure in the eastern Alps. There will be widespread rain showers, sometimes with thunderstorms.
Persistent rain in the mountains. The snow line will drop to 1,500 metres above sea level in the west.
It gets cooler again
In the afternoon, the clouds in the southeast and east will clear up a little, and most showers will subside. The center of precipitation will shift to the west.
Moderate to light winds will blow from different directions. Early temperatures are forecast to be between four and 13 degrees, with daytime highs ranging from four to 18 degrees from west to east.
